In his recent interview with Katie & Company, Zach Top confirms he will be releasing a new album in Spring 2027.
In the mix of touring and releasing his 2026 Good Girls & Cowgirls EP, Top says that he's been spending much time in the studio all year-round writing for a new record.
The 'South of Sanity' crooner says he embarked on the album's creative journey early this year. Writing, recording, and scrapping, Top says he cut a "handful" of the songs created in the beginning and is spending the fall homing in on what he wants his fans to officially hear.
Now that the 'I Never Lie' songster has a more refined idea of what he wants his fourth studio album to look and sound like, Top confirms that he will begin releasing new music at the "top of the year," with the mysterious record being released somewhere around Spring 2027.
The release of the album will come just a little over a year since Top released his third studio Ain't In It For My Health record, and nearly three years since his Cold Beer & Country Music album release. Both of these projects became massively successful, hitting No. 1 on charts such as Billboard's Top Country Albums.
One after another, Top has been tasked with following up the success of those albums, which, according to him, has been a challenge of its own.
"We put out that first record, and it turned out to be a big hit, and it almost feels intimidating where I wasn't sure how we're going to follow that up," said Top. "Then we made the second record, and it felt like, 'oh my gosh, I think we did it, I think we beat the first one.'"
Of course, the 'Bad Luck' vocalist was referring to the massive success Ain't In It For My Health saw, where he even won a Grammy award for "Best traditional country album."
Today, Top says he has felt similar pressures creating his upcoming album, where he'd like to go above and beyond and create a new body of work that both measures up to his previous albums but sets him apart in a new era of his career.
Regardless of these internal pressures many artists face, he continues by adding on that the upcoming album feels more to the likes of Top's classic, traditional country style now more than ever - both in production and writing value, he confirms that he feels he's dialing in on what "his thing" is musically.
We're sure that, no matter what, the upcoming record will feature those neo-traditional country sounds Top does so well, sounds that no other modern country artist can hold a candle to. While the successes of his previous two albums are in fact, tough to beat, if there's anyone that knows his own sound its Top himself - and we're excited to see what he has in store for the upcoming year.
