In an Instagram story post following the release of 'Young Manhood & Other Donatable Organs,' Zach Bryan let fans in on the idea behind his latest EP cover art.

On the front cover of the record, Bryan stands at a distance holding a shotgun to himself. Bryan on the left is focused, peering through the peephole of a shotgun while sporting a bright, tan jacket. He stands in a sunny, grassy field as he takes aim at himself on the right, who's looking out at the sun, wearing a dark long sleeve and smiling wide.

The back cover art flips the perspective. As both versions of him stand in the midst of a fog, "Shooter Bryan" stands on the right side with the version of himself being killed on the left. The white line running ahead of the gun's barrel reveals the track list, acting as a white smoke stream. It's as though Bryan is killing his old self with the project's songs.

"Every record of mine, I've been on the right side of the cover," Bryan wrote. "On YM&ODO, I wanted to signify resurrection and killing your old self daily."

Looking at the covers of his past albums, it is true. From the blurry vision of him standing in a grassy field on his 2022 record American Heartbreak, to him crouching by a river on his 2026 album With Heaven On Top, Bryan created, most likely by accident, an art series of him standing on the right side of almost every project.

It's no secret that Bryan has faced his fair share of adversity throughout his career, so the self-improvement habits Bryan has adapted, the changes he's likely experienced, and the growing pains he's possibly endured during the writing and recording of this EP most likely inspired the artwork.

It also possibly inspired his notion to change the production of his live performances, which Bryan recently said would be in order for his 2027 YM&ODO world tour.

The release of the new EP feels bigger branding wise, and even more profound catalog wise for Bryan. It seems as though Bryan is ready to turn an unexplored corner in his career, with the new EP being the first shadow to a new era.
