Sam Hunt's wistful, nostalgic single, ‘Outskirts’, has surged to the top spot on this week's UK Radio Country Airplay Chart, dated from April 19-25, 2024. In doing so, it becomes the Georgia singer-songwriter's first ever UK Country Airplay No. 1 hit.
The beat-driven song, which inspired Hunt's 2024 tour of the same name, finds the ‘Body Like A Back Road’ hitmaker wondering what kind of life he could've had if only he'd stayed with his childhood sweetheart, instead of heading out on the road.
Slotting in at No. 2 this week is Lainey Wilson's much-loved track, ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’, which appeared on her acclaimed 2023 album, Bell Bottom Country, and undoubtedly received a boost following Lainey's recent UK shows.
Completing the Top 5 is Chris Young's ‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ at No. 3, Ashley Cooke's ‘Your Place’ at No. 4 and Beyoncé's debut country single, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ at No. 5.
The biggest riser during this frame is Brett Young's ‘Dance With You’, which earns a staggering 2099% increase in total weekly impressions to settle at No. 47.
The UK Radio Country Airplay chart is the first genre-specific radio chart in the country and is produced by Radiomonitor and the CMA's UK Task Force. The data is compiled from several UK country radio stations, including Absolute Radio Country, BBC Radio 2 - The Country Show with Bob Harris, CountryLine: The Big 615, Downtown Country Radio and Smooth Country Radio.
