In a new interview, Luke Grimes has shared a tantalising update with fans about the status of Marshals Season 3. Grimes stars as Kayce Dutton in Taylor Sheridan's hit Yellowstone spin-off, which is currently in the middle of its sophomore season.

When asked if Marshals has officially been renewed for Season 3 or not, Grimes begins, “We haven't heard anything yet”, before reflecting on how the second season was confirmed while Season 1 was still being released, “But I mean, this past season the pickup was so fast. So I don't know what to expect. I think like one [episode] aired and they were like, ‘We're doing it again!’ And we're like, ‘Now?’”

It makes you wonder whether the fact that Season 3 hasn't been confirmed as quickly this time around could be an indication that the powers-that-be are weighing things up. Or, alternatively, they could just be waiting until the grand finale - when the buzz around the show will likely be at its highest point - for the big Season 3 reveal.

Grimes goes on, “I feel like we just did press for Season 1 and we're, like, doing it again. So yeah, we'll see. But I'm sure, you know, you guys will all find out when we find out”.

Although Grimes may well be speaking candidly, you have to assume that he at least has some indication as to the likelihood of there being a Season 3, especially given the fact that the ‘No Horse To Ride’ singer-songwriter is an Executive Producer.

With Season 2 picking up where Season 1 left off and generally drawing a positive response from fans, we suspect Season 3 will indeed be announced in the coming weeks.

The only thing missing this time around is a big-name country music presence, with the first season benefiting from the hype around Riley Green's cameo as Garrett or ‘Double G’.

But we're keeping our fingers crossed that, while there might not be a major guest like Green in Season 2, there could still be a crossover between Marshals and Dutton Ranch. The latter stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, and given Beth's role as Kayce's sister, fans have been clamouring for the two to cross paths again in the Yellowstone universe. Both Grimes and Reilly have confirmed they've spoken about the idea, so we're hoping that - perhaps even as part of the dramatic Marshals Season 2 finale - we'll get our wish.
