Miranda Lambert has taken to Instagram to share a photo of her with one of her musical idols, Tim McGraw, after the two were unveiled on line-up for The Hondo Rodeo 2026.

In the caption of the backstage picture, Lambert heartwarmingly quips, “I def am going to fan girl at @thehondorodeo”. McGraw and Lambert are joined on the impressive bill for the three-day country extravaganza in Phoenix, Arizona next month by Blake Shelton, Parker McCollum, Turnpike Troubadours and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Hilariously, McCollum has poked fun about the fact that the legendary country-rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, are his support, “Wait… Skynyrd is opening for me? Is that legal?”

It's a stacked line-up, and we're hope that, given the fact that Lambert is McGraw's opener, we'll finally get to see these two country music titans performing together.

They've linked up together backstage on a number of occasions, but we're yet to see them joining forces for a blockbuster duet. Hopefully The Hondo Rodeo Fest across November 13-15 will be the occasion we get to witness these two greats sharing the stage.

There's clearly a longstanding mutual respect between the two, with McGraw expressing his admiration for how Lambert and Shelton managed to maintain their respective uniqueness creatively, back when they were together, “They're great. They're both individual artists... It's just never lose sight of your individuality as an artist. Because that's the driving force of what, as artists, makes us smart”.

With Lambert having just released a stellar new album, Crisco, and McGraw continuing to drip-feed new singles ahead of his eagerly anticipated follow-up to his 2023 record, Standing Room Only, it feels like the perfect time for these two to team up. Two legends with a strong penchant for classic country, who also aren't afraid to mix things up and draw from other genres like Southern Rock, Disco and more.
